Memorial Walk Thanks April 25, 2011

Update 05/02/11Here’s a link to few photos taken by Carl.

Thanks to everyone who came to the memorial walk this past Saturday in Prospect Park as well as to everyone who thought about Wynne.  About 30 people were able to join despite the rain.  And after a rainy start, it let up as we began the walk and the weather warmed as well.  We essentially had the park to ourselves and our only obstacles were a couple of large puddles (lakes?) that had formed over sections of the path.

I realized the gathering was also a bit of a reunion of sorts.  Last year many people from different parts of our lives came together in support of Wynne in a variety of ways.  And so Saturday was a chance for some of those people to reconnect with each other and remember Wynne together.

Following the walk a number of people joined us at Soda Bar to continue catching up, sharing stories and celebrating the day in honor of Wynne.

Meanwhile, I’ve set up this link to a Mobile Me gallery I created to share any photos from the day.  Have a look.  (FYI, they tend to be fairly Helen-focused thus far.)

You can upload photos and videos directly to the site as well as by e-mailing them to wuwitz-sv3s [at] post.me.com.  I realize due to the rain that not so many photos were taken.  But we’ll take whatever you got.

Thanks again and lots of love,

Steven & Helen

Update: Memorial Walk for Wynne – Sat April 23 April 22, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — stevenwaseda @ 6:05 pm

The walk is still on, even with the expected rain.  Grand Army Plaza at 11am.

However, instead of a picnic, everyone is welcome to gather at Soda Bar on Vanderbilt Ave and St. Marks place.  They serve food and there are some other places to get food along the way there as well.

And remember:  It’s a celebration. 🙂 (Just as Wynne requested last year.)  Festive dress is welcome and encouraged.

Helen uses her passport! April 21, 2011

Wynne would have been extremely proud to see Helen make her first trip abroad last week.

We went to London to visit our very dear friend Philippe.  Helen got her passport stamped, slept well on the flight and adjusted rather well to the jetlag too.  She saw the Tower Bridge, said “hi” to virtually everyone she met, saw the London Marathon, attended a cherry blossom party in Hyde Park and visited the bilingual French/English nursery school that Philippe runs.

April 23 Memorial Walk in the Park for Wynne April 10, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — wenren @ 12:32 am

Hi everyone,

I was thinking it would be nice to remember Wynne on Saturday, April 23, one year from the date that she died. And I was thinking a nice yet simple way to do it would be to take a walk around Prospect Park together like we did last year for her memorial service, and then have a picnic.

The plan is to meet near the Grand Army Plaza entrance a little before 11am. And for the picnic, just bring something to eat and perhaps a little to share with others. You are of course also welcome to bring stories and memories of Wynne that you would like to share in conversation. Dogs and frisbees welcome too. Wynne had said last year that she wanted her memorial service to be celebratory and joyful, so we’ll continue in that style. 🙂

In the event of rain, we’ll still do the walk but probably forgo the picnic.

No need to rsvp. Just show up if you can make it, and we’ll see you there.

Thanks.

Steven
